The musings of Joseph, Windy, Andrew, Isaac, Aaron Price (and that Darn Dog Oreo!)
Looking for good luck in 2010? A Southern New Year's Day food tradition, eating Hoppin' John Black Eyed Peas will not only bring good luck, you might also get rich if it's eaten with collard greens. Hoppin' John is a deliciously spicy bean dish made of black-eyed peas simmered with bacon, sausages or ham hocks, onions, spices and rice.
New Year's Day Food Traditions for Good Luck
According to urban legend, it is said for the best good luck of the year, one must eat a bowl of Hoppin' John on New Year's Day. Many devoted Hoppin' John purists go one step further, and at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, they'll toast each other with a glass of Champagne in one hand and a bowl of Hoppin' John Black Eyed Peas in the other.
Black Eyed Peas for Riches & Properity
Following the good luck theory, if Hoppin' John Black Eyed Peas are served with collard greens, you might even get lucky AND rich! If that's not enough good luck wishful thinking, eating "leftover Hoppin' John becomes "Skippin' Jenny," the day after New Year's Day, and eating it demonstrates powerful frugality, bringing one even better chances of prosperity," reports the Austin Chronicle.
According to Boston University School of Theology Archives, "Eat poor on New Year's, and eat fat the rest of the year," is the best advice going for good luck and prosperity.

Milk and Egg nog for santa this year! They boys also felt it important to leave out water and doggie treats so "Santa Paw's" would leave Oreo something good this year!

Every year we have a special Christmas Eve visitor, the Christmas Eve Elf. The sneaky little elf comes and drops off a gift on our front door step, rings the door bell and runs!! The boys were so convinced that this year they were going to capture him. That little elf was just too good to get caught. This year he brought the boys feetly pajamas, it took the boys a couple of minutes to figure out how to put them on, but they figured it out.

What a wonderful time of year! This is the time for us to take a second and remember the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for my elder brother and friend Jesus Christ, for without him I could not return to live with my Father in Heaven. He is my Reedemer, My Savior and most of all an example to me and how I should try to live. I am greatful for Him in my life.

This has been a crazy summer... First we moved from San Antonio to Fort Meade Maryland the first part of June.. After a long couple of weeks of going through everything we own we finally were able to fit into our "little Crack House" as I like to call it. We chose to live on the Army Post that is just about 15 minutes from Joseph's work because everything is so expensive out here!! We are hoping to save money and get the rest of the way out of debt in the next year or so. So thanks to some wonderful friends who are letting us store a ton of our stuff in their basement we actually fit into this 1400 sq ft house. Shortly after we arrived Aaron and Isaac were able to attend a week long British Soccer Day camp were they had lots of fun and learned tons of new skills!! Then a couple of weeks later Andrew and Isaac were able to attend a rock climbing camp, it took them a couple of days but by the last day they were really enjoying their adventure! Then a couple of weeks later Andrew was able to attend a week long Lego Robotics camp, were he was in heaven... He also made it into the base paper, were he was quoted and a picture was taken of him and his robot! He was so excited he knew he would be famous as he said... I can't believe school is going to be starting on tuesday! this summer has flown by!!! I miss everyone in Texas! but slowly but surely am starting to enjoy the East.. I have made some great friends!! My good friend Katie who lived at the other end of the house from me is moving about a mile or so away to a bigger house.. All 7 of them don't fit to well in a town home this size, so I am so sad for me but so happy for her and her family!! I will post more hopefully in the next day or so with Cub scout camp pictures, air rockets and our first trip to DC..

Yesterday, I notified my current employer that I would be leaving. My last day of work is scheduled for 29 May. I will start my new job in Maryland on 8 Jun. I had suppressed Windy's earlier post on the subject because it was not known to anyone inside my professional circles (and I didn't want to let the cat out of the bag too early).
Anyways, Windy will probably post something more pithy and descriptive, but suffice to say that right now we are overwhelmed with all of the STUFF you have to do to get ready to move. AARGH!
We're hoping to live in Severna Park, MD. It is a quiet little community with a great atmosphere, excellent schools, an active community, and a number of amenities that we're excited about (e.g. the Rails-To-Trails bike path that is just a few blocks away from the house we're looking at -- it runs south all the way to Annapolis and north all the way to my work!). I'm definitely looking forward to four seasons, snow, and touring all of the awesome sites in and around our nation's capital. There is so much history there. I can't wait!
I will be taking a government civil service position in Linthicum.
We've been in San Antonio for almost nine years now. While it will be difficult to leave the many friends we've met while here, we look forward to the future with great anticipation.
More to come at another time...

Well, Hopefully everyone had a great holiday season!! We had a wonderful Christmas, the day after Christmas we were able to head to Oklahoma to visit Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and of coarse Grandma.. Although, everyone ended up with a nasty stomach bug! YUK!! We still haven't sent out our Christmas cards and letters yet, maybe if you are lucky we will get on the ball and get them out by Valentines.. (Don't Hold your breath!) We miss everyone and wish you all the best in 2009!!1
